It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Carnal productions will be making a big debut at the Vienna porn film festival! We have had two of our films selected for the BDSM category. 

I had the pleasure of meeting some of the film festival’s organisers on my trip to Berlin, whereby I was invited to submit some of our work for consideration for their  film festival. Upon my return to Scotland, I chose two of my favourite films; re-edited, colour graded and collaborated on sound design to make them film festival ready.

The films were Domina’s Ball Games and Mila’s service hangs in the Balance. Both films were never really created for a commercial audience, and were quite ambitious projects from the get go. 

Domina’s Ball games was inspired by an episode of Jackass where someone had pool balls fired at their genitals. We decided to take this premise and create something with a hint of class, inspired by film Noir with a femme fatale kind of vibe to it. We filmed in a room which looked very grand, there was lots of natural lighting so it looked very cinematic before we even began to do any work with the lighting. In the original film, which is available on our C4S store, let’s call it the porn edit, was quite a long film. I felt like it dragged on a bit with a lot of gratuitous shots of Mila’s genitals being hit with a snooker ball. In the film festival edit, I made these scenes much faster to add a more dynamic element to it. Once the music was added, Mila made a title sequence for the end, which I think brought it all together.

Mila’s service hangs in the balance, and has a very ceremonious feel to it. I like the imagery of someone having their cup filled, representing giving and sharing. However, the film is about Mila’s devotion, which comes in the form of showing obedience. She must carry the trays with cups filled with water, to prove her willingness to please, if she spills a drop she would receive discipline. 

I will be travelling to the film festival later this week with Mila and a friend of ours, who is coming to support us. I am really looking forward to seeing our films on the big screen and getting some inspiration from the other films in the festival. Most of all I am looking forward to meeting new people and taking the first step on our film festival, art porn journey.
